The Port of La Paloma is strategically located as the first oceanic port of the Republic.
On February 19, 2016, Dock 2 and its operational areas were incorporated into the Administration in an official ceremony attended by the Minister of Transport and Public Works, the President of the ANP and the National Director of Hydrography.
During the same month, the coordination and planning for the study of the environmental impact that the dredging would causein the port access area, as well as in Docks 2 and 3, was carried out, an activity that was implemented in the second half of 2019.
The port is the base of operations for 3 large coastal vessels mainly dedicated to providing support, load-lightening, savage and other services as intermediaries between national and international suppliers, as well as crew transfers to large oil tankers present in Uruguayan waters. In addition, several national and foreign flag vessels rely on the Port of La Paloma as a logistical hub for fuel and food supplies, emergencies and shelter in case of inclement weather.
